This unique combination with more reactive Ca(OH)2 increases the porosity and specific surface area (~20 m²/g BET) compared to natural crushed limestone (~1 – 2 m²/g BET).

This leads to a significantly better neutralization of acidic gases like HCl, SO3, HF, and especially SO2.
