Our continuous effort to a more circular economy

At Lhoist, we are constantly looking for solutions that help us transition from a linear to a circular economy and minimize our waste streams. Various solutions and partnerships have been implemented across Europe with the aim of recycling refractory bricks, after they have been used in our kilns.
In Germany, for example, we have been working with local suppliers since 2016 and an effective circular system has been setup to recycle used refractory bricks: after sorting the different types of bricks on our sites, the suppliers pick up the material for recycling.
One column
The used bricks are then recycled for different purposes, for example for the metallurgical industry or to produce fertilizers.
